SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team wraps up the home portion of its schedule with a crucial league weekend against Vassar and Bard. The Thoroughbreds host Vassar on Friday in a 4 p.m. start, and will honor its seniors in the regular season home finale against Bard on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Thoroughbreds come into the weekend with an 8-5 weekend and a 4-2 mark in league play, sitting in a second-place tie with three games to go. Skidmore has the tie-breaker with Rochester, and are a half-game better than Vassar and St. Lawrence, two teams with 3-2 records. Skidmore has been perfect at home so far, with a 4-0 mark.

Last weekend, Skidmore split a pair of league games, defeating Union 15-12 on Friday before falling at No. 9 William Smith 8-3 on Saturday. In Saturday's contest against William Smith, Cas Szwajkowski scored her 50th goal of the season, and 100th of her young career. She has also scored a goal in 28 straight contests and in 30 of 31 career games. Szwajkowski leads the league in goals and is tied for the league lead with 56 points.

On Saturday, Skidmore will honor its four seniors: defender Rachel Talanian, attacker Allison Byrne, midfielder Tyler Phillips, and goalkeeper Megan Kolopsky. The foursome has played in the last 65 contests for the Thoroughbreds with a solid 37-28 record overall and a 22-11 record in league play. The group has led the Thoroughbreds to back-to-back Liberty League Championship games in 2015 and 2016, and has the Thoroughbreds on the verge of a third consecutive playoff appearance this season.

Talanian has dominated on the defensive end for the Thoroughbreds in her career. The all-time leader in caused turnovers in a career (135) and season (50) as well as ground balls in a season (76), the co-captain is just three ground balls shy of the all-time mark of 211. Talanian also became the program's third Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-American in 2016.

Phillips has been a force on the offensive end for the Thoroughbreds in her career. Earlier this season, Phillips became the first women's lacrosse player to reach the 200-point plateau, breaking the all-time scoring record. Phillips is also the program's all-time leading scorer with 171 goals and has 216 career points. Phillips is a three-time member of the IWLCA All-Region team.

Byrne has shown to be a leader and a consistent presence for the Thoroughbreds throughout her career. The co-captain has played in all 65 games in her career, and currently has 40 career goals and 47 career points. Kolopsky has been a steady presence in the cage as a four-year starter, setting the program record for most games played in goal with 63. Her 399 career saves are fourth all-time in program history.

Vassar comes into the weekend with a 6-5 record overall and a 3-2 mark in league play, sitting a half-game behind the Thoroughbreds with a game in hand. The Brewers are riding a two-game win streak with victories over Bard and RIT.

Tessa Waters leads the team with 31 points on 24 goals and seven assists. Kelly Pushie is second with 22 goals and four assists for 26 points, and Storm Sideleau wraps up the top three with 25 points on 22 goals and three assists. Waters and Pushie are among the league's top 10 goal scorers.

In goal, Emily Chancey has a 9.27 goals against average and a .544 save percentage in 11 games and eight starts. Kristin Caolo has appeared in six games and made three starts, going 2-3 with an 11.12 goals against average and a .410 save percentage.

Last season, Skidmore won its third straight contest against Vassar, defeating the Brewers 11-5 on April 9. The Thoroughbreds are 20-6 all-time against Vassar.

Bard comes into the weekend with a 4-6 mark overall and an 0-5 record in league play. The Raptors split a pair of games last week, defeating Southern Vermont 18-9 before falling to Vassar over the weekend. The Raptors will host RPI on Friday at 4 p.m. before making the trip to Saratoga Springs.

Bard is led by Melissa Rosenthal, who is third in the league with 1.20 assists per game. She leads the team in points (27) and assists (12). Caleigh DeCaprio leads the team with 20 goals and is second with 26 points. Ellin Nicole (17; 15-2) and Dylan McDonald (13; 11-2) wrap up the double-digit point scorers. Kaylynn Tran has played every minute in goal for the Raptors, and she has a 12.34 goals against average and a .449 save percentage.
