DAY ONE RESULTS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both sit in third place after the first night of the Don Richards Invitational, hosted by RIT at the Judson Pool Friday.
The Thoroughbred women sit in third-place tie with Vassar at 171 points, trailing second place St. Lawrence, who has 208. RIT leads the way with 333 points, while William Smith and Clarkson trail Skidmore with 149 and 74, respectively.
The men hold a one-point lead on St. Lawrence with 143 points. RIT leads the wait with 368 points, followed by Clarkson (228), St. Lawrence in fourth (142), and Vassar (127).
For the women,
Elizabeth Levy and
Maddie Collins swam personal bests in their respective meets. Levy powered through the 200 yard IM, finishing in fourth place with a time of 2:17.46. Collins swam in the 500-yard Freestyle, finishing in 16
th place with a time of 5:47.94.
Olivia Frechette (5:35.12),
Emily Favreau (5:35.28), and
Meredith Wagner (5:35.48) all posted strong times in the 500-Free, finishing in 10th, 11th, and 12th place, respectively.
In the 50-yard Freestyle,
Olivia Czelusniak (25.96) and
Olivia Frechette (26.23) were neck-and-neck, finishing in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
Alyssa Pacewicz also posted a strong time, finishing in 14th with a time of 26.90.
Both 'A' relays posted solid times. In the 400-yard Medley Relay,
Jazmin Rendon,
Meredith Wagner, Levy, and Czelusniak finished in fifth place with a time of 4:18.33. In the 200-yard Freestyle,
Olivia Frechette, Favreau, Czelusniak, and Levy also finished fifth, racing to a time of 1:44.25.
On the 1-meter dive platform,
Hannah Krall led the Thoroughbreds with her fourth-place finish, earning a score of 315.15.
Rachel Adamsky finished a few points behind in sixth place with 309.90, while
Monique Dudar finished ninth with a score of 230.35.
For the men, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay 'A' team of
Hiro Kamei,
Harrison Shockley,
Ben Rudman, and
Joey Stagliano raced to a third-place finish, with a time of 1:31.61. In the 400-yard Medley Relay event, Shockley, Rudman, Kamei, and
Daryl Kwan finished in fourth with a time of 3:43.80.
Individually, Kamei had the best finish for the men, finishing fourth in the 200-yard IM (2:03.07). The 500-yard Freestyle saw Rudman take fifth place (5:05.63), with Kwan in 15th (5:17.81) in the same event. Shockley finished in a tie for ninth with RIT's Mark Truskinovsky in a close 50-yard Freestyle race, swimming in a time of 23.06, while Stagliano finished in 15
th at 23.85.
On the 3-meter boards,
Andrew Klein picked up an eighth-place finish, earning 338.25 points, while
Ethan Reardon finished in 10th (205.15).
"It was an exciting first night at the Don Richards Invite," said head coach
Jill Greenleaf. "Our team performed extremely well, recording nearly all season-best times and a number of lifetime best performances. We look forward to keeping the momentum going tomorrow."
The Thoroughbreds will wrap up the Don Richards Invite Saturday morning.
