RESULTS
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened up the 2017-18 season in the comforts of the Williamson Center Friday afternoon. The men defeated St. Lawrence by a 161-117 score and the women's narrowly fell to the Saints by a 155-136 score.
The men's 200-Yard Medley Relay team of
Kinser Bonner,
Carl Mellqvist,
Hiro Kamei, and
Ben Rudman started the season with a victory, winning their event in 1:44.78. The win was one of four total for Kamei on the night, as he also posted victories in the 200-Yard Free (1:50.51), the 100-Yard Free (50.10) and the 200-Yard IM (2:07.73). Bonner also won three individual events, the 200-Yard Fly (2:08.94), the 200-Yard Back (2:11.04), and the 100-Yard Fly (57.37). Rudman also earned victories in the 100-Yard Breast (1:02.36) and the 200-Yard Breast (2:25.64) while junior
Lucas Po followed up with second place finishes in the 100-Yard Breast (1:07.52) and 200-Yard IM (2:17.89).
Jason Hansen added a victory in the 500-Yard Free (5:29.94) to wrap up the swimming victories, and
Andrew Klein posted solid efforts on the diving boards, finishing second on the 1-meter (202.73) and 3-meter (189.83) boards.
For the women,
Olivia Frechette won her first collegiate event, the 200-Yard Free, in 2:03.32 and finished second in the 500-Yard Free (5:30.86). Fellow freshman
Olivia Czelusniak touched second in a pair of races, the 50-Yard Free (26.88) and the 100-Yard Free (58.35).
Hannah Krall started the season strong on the boards, winning the 1-meter (182.85) and 3-meter (204.75) events.
Rachel Adamsky made it 1-2 for the Thoroughbreds on the 3-meter boards, tallying a score of 196.95.
Elizabeth Levy had strong swims in her events, finishing second in the 1,000-Yard Free (11:24.57), 200-Yard Fly (2:22.30) and 100-Yard Fly (1:04.82).
Meredith Wagner also nabbed second in the 200-Yard Breast (2:43.34).
Maddie Collins picked up valuable points for the Thoroughbreds, finishing third in the 200-Yard Fly (2:25.42) and 100-Yard Fly (1:08.11).
Skidmore women's team of Frechette, Favreau,
Lane Kuska and
Alyssa Pacewicz closed the meet with a win in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay (1:47.51).
Skidmore will host Potsdam at the Williamson Center on Saturday at 1 p.m.
