SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore College softball team will be making its third straight Liberty League Tournament appearance this weekend at the University of Rochester. The tournament winner receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

The Thoroughbreds (16-22, 6-6 Liberty League) are the third seed and will face second seed Rensselaer (27-9, 9-3) on Thursday at 4:30. The winner plays at 10 a.m. on Friday, while the loser plays an elimination game at 12:30 p.m. The second elimination game is Friday at 3 p.m. The final two teams play on Saturday at 12 p.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. if needed.

The two teams split on the final day of the regular season. The Engineers won the first game 15-3 in five innings, with the Thoroughbreds coming back to take the second 6-5.

#4 RIT (17-21, 6-6) and #1 Rochester play in the other first round game at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Dani DeGregory leads the way in the batter's box for the Thoroughbreds with a .452 batting average, 57 hits, 20 RBI's and two home runs. Â Teammate junior
Lauren Fortunato is currently holding a .425 batting average with 48 hits, 28 RBI, and four home runs. Â On the mound, sophomore
Amanda Carilli has a record of 13-14 with a 2.86 ERA, 173.2 innings pitched, 60 strikeouts, and 25 complete games.

Junior Stephanie Caudle P/IF leads RPI with a .452 batting average, 52 hits, 41 RBI and four home runs. Sophomore Devin Puhl is right behind her with a .420 batting average, 50 hits, and 25 RBI's. Caudle also is the leading pitcher for the Engineers; she is 13-4 with a 1.91 ERA, four saves, and 114 strikeouts in 121 innings this season.
