Skidmore claims 9-2 Liberty League win over Bard

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Eric Megnia scored a career-high four goals to lead the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team to a 9-2 Liberty League win over Bard College, Saturday at Wachenheim Field.
 
The Thoroughbreds move to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Raptors drop to 3-5 and 0-2.
 
Megnia was one of six Skidmore players to score. Kevin Mulvey, Andrew DeStefano, Colby Farnham, Brendan Halloran, and Justin Csenge each had solo goals. Ryan Warnock won nine of 11 face offs and tallied eight ground balls.
 
John Palermo scored both of Bard's goals.
 
Skidmore scored the first five goals to control the game from the start. Csenge opened the scoring and Megnia scored back-to-back goals for a 3-0 lead. Farnham scored his first collegiate goal with 15 seconds left to play in the first quarter.
 
The Thoroughbreds extended the lead to 7-1 at the half and 9-1 after three quarters.
 
Skidmore outshot Bard 48-29 and had a 33-15 ground ball advantage. The Thoroughbreds won 11 of 15 face offs.
 
Chris Baughan played the first 30 minutes in goal for the Thoroughbreds, allowing one goal with three saves. Tim Rahill had two saves in the third quarter and Josh Worley had seven saves in the fourth quarter. Troy Ludtka had 14 saves for Bard.
 
Skidmore is at Castleton University for a nonleague game on April 5 at 7 p.m.
