Late goals cost Thoroughbreds

Box Score UTICA, N.Y.--- Utica College scored the game's final two goals to earn a 13-11 women's lacrosse win over Skidmore College Wednesday evening.
 
The Thoroughbreds are 2-1, while the Pioneers move to 2-1.
 
Tyler Phillips scored a game-high six goals for Skidmore. She had two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a draw control.  Natalie LaBeau added three goals and Allison Byrne had two. Gianna Muscari contributed four draws.
 
Colleen Dowling and Katlyn Scarpinella had four goals each for Utica.
 
The game stayed within two goals the entire way. Phillips scored with 1:04 left in the first half to tie the game at the intermission 6-6.
 
Utica eventually worked its way to a two-goal advantage, 11-9 with 9:39 to play. LaBeau went to work for Skidmore scoring the next two goals at 9:08 and 6:19 to tie it 11-11. 
 
A Thoroughbred turnover led to a Scarpinella goal at 2:00. The Pioneers won the draw and got an insurance goal at 1:32. Utica won the ensuing draw and controlled the ball for the final 1:32.
 
Utica had a 31-24 shot advantage. Megan Kolopsky had nine saves in net for Skidmore.
 
The Thoroughbreds head south to play Westfield State on March 15 and Ithaca College on March 18 at the National Training Center.
