SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team lost a pair of Liberty League one-run games to Union College Saturday at Castle Diamond. The Dutchmen were the home team in both games, winning the first 2-1 and the second 1-0 in 10 innings.

The Thoroughbreds are 4-8 and 1-3 Liberty, while Union is 7-4 and 3-1.

In the opening game, both teams scored single runs in the first inning.
Jeb Clarke scored for Skidmore on a ground out.Â

Pitching took over after that with
Andrew Aikins for the Thoroughbreds and Nick Williams for the Dutchmen mowing through batters.

Greg Dougherty opened the bottom of the seventh with a walk and moved to second on a Devon Coffey sacrifice. Dougherty moved to third on a ground out. After an intentional walk, Jamie Faber delivered the winning hit.

Shankar Mani was 2-2 with a double for Skidmore. Aikins allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and five walks.

The second game featured another pitching duel between the Skidmore combination of freshman
Will Potter and
Joe Warner and Union's Jake Vesling and Ryan Kuchar.

Potter shut the Dutchmen out for 6 2/3 on seven hits, with one walk and one strikeout. Warner took the loss in relief, allowing an unearned run on four hits and two walks.

Vesling went seven innings , with one walk and seven strikeouts. Kuchar got the win with three no-hit shutout innings.

Union won it in the 10
th when Eric Egan reached on a fielders choice, moved to third on a throwing error and then scored on Kent Curran single.
