FT. MYERS, Fla.—The Skidmore College baseball team lost a pair to Bethel University Thursday afternoon. Bethel won the first game 8-3 and the second 5-2.
The Thoroughbreds (2-5) close out their spring trip on Friday with a single game against Johns Hopkins.
In the first game, Bethel (7-3) scored the game's last five runs on the way to the 8-3 win. After spotting BU three runs in the first, Skidmore tied it with three in the top of the second on solo home runs by
Josh Brown and
Mat Marino.
Chris Lorenz had an RBI single. Bethel settled down and kept the Thoroughbreds off the board and hitless for the final five innings.
In the second game, Bethel scored five runs in the top of the fourth to go up 5-0. Skidmore got single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Hayden Smith had an RBI single in the sixth and
Eric Damphousse had an RBI double in the seventh. Smith finished 2-3, while Damphousse and
Shankar Mani were 2-4.
Joe Warner tossed three innings of scoreless relief.
