FT. MYERS, Fla.—Bats were blazing during the Skidmore College baseball team's wild split with Lasell College Sunday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (1-3) won the first game 26-13 and dropped the second 14-10. Skidmore batters pounded out 36 hits in the two games, including 25 in the first game.
In the first game, the Thoroughbreds were behind 6-3 after two innings, but lit the board for 23 runs over the final five innings for the win.
Shankar Mani was 5-6 with five runs, a double, and two RBI.
Josh Brown had a three-run home runs and a pair of doubles on the way to a 4-5 effort that included six RBI, and four runs.
Mike Fogarty was 3-6 with a grand slam in the seventh. He finished with six RBI.
Jack Walter went 3-6 with a pair of RBI doubles and
Patrick Geiger was 3-4 with a double.
Mat Marino was 2-5 with a triple and two runs.
Starter
Andrew Aikins earned the win with 4.1 innings of work.
In the second game the teams combined for 24 runs and 25 hits. Skidmore battled back from a 6-0 deficit to take a 7-6 lead after three innings. Lasell scored three in the fourth and three in the fifth to regain the lead, 12-7 on the way to the 14-10 win.
Marino went 3-4 with a solo home run to go along with four runs and two RBI.
Steven Gilbert was 3-4 with four RBI and
Shawn Klier went 2-4 with two RBI.
Skidmore will face Heidelberg in a single game on March 15.
