Softball opens season with split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla.—The Skidmore College softball team went 1-1 to open the 2016 season on Saturday.
 
The Thoroughbreds beat Husson University 6-0 and lost to McDaniel College 10-2.
 
In the Husson win, Amanda Carilli threw a complete-game two-hit shutout. Dani DeGregory had a three-run triple to break the game open.
 
Against McDaniel, Skidmore took a 2-0 lead in the second, but the Green Terror plated four unearned runs in their half of the second on the way to the 10-2 win.  Lauren Fortunato had a two-run single to account for the Thoroughbred runs.
 
Skidmore plays Rowan and Wheaton College on Sunday.
