SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team dropped a non-league match to Middlebury College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) Tuesday night at the Williamson Center.

The Thoroughbreds are 11-13, while the Panthers move to 12-4.

In the first set, Skidmore battled back from an early deficit to take a 19-17 lead on a pair of kills by
Caite Canfield. The Panthers scored four of the next six points to tie it 21-21. The teams traded points to keep it tied 22-22, but Middlebury closed out the match with a 3-1 run for the 25-22 win.

The Panthers jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the second set on the way to a 25-17 win.

The Thoroughbreds kept it tight in the third set. Skidmore erased a 19-17 Panther lead, tying it 19-19 on a
Rachel Licata kill and Middlebury attack error. The Panthers used a 7-1 run to go up 24-20, but Skidmore hung tough with three straight points (two
Allie Dillon kills) to cut the lead to 24-23. Middlebury got the winner on its fourth attempt for the 25-23 win.

Canfield had 10 digs and eight kills. Licata had six kills, while Dillon finished with five kills.
Lauren Wolters (15) and
Bailey Hutchins (12) combined for 27 assists. Hutchins had nine kills and nine digs.
Katy Ehnstrom had six blocks (two solo). Â

Skidmore is off until an Oct. 18 match at Plattsburgh. Middlebury hosts Amherst on Oct. 14.
