Box Score 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Hamilton held the Skidmore College softball team to just seven hits in two games en route to a 3-0, 4-0 sweep in the regular season finale for both teams, Tuesday evening at Wagner Park.

The Thoroughbreds finish the regular season with an overall mark of 14-20, while the Continentals end their season at 15-17.

In the first game, Hamilton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Ellie Kiernan doubled to left-center and scored on a Monique St. Jarre single in the next at-bat. The Continentals added two runs in the fourth on an error and pitcher Kelly Leonard handled the rest, allowing just four runs over the final three innings to secure the complete-game shutout. She surrendered six hits on the game with two walks and two strikeouts and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Amanda Carilli went the distance on the mound for Skidmore, allowing three runs (one earned) on nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Hamilton's pitching proved to be the difference again in game two, as Zoe Singer gave up just one hit in six innings of work.

After two scoreless innings, Phoebe Collins doubled and scored on an error to put the Continentals ahead 1-0. Hamilton tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth to push its lead to 3-0. Hannah Staab reached on a fielder's choice and advanced on a Leonard sacrifice bunt. Olivia Gozdz delivered a double, plating Leonard and later scored on an error to make it 3-0.

Staab extended the Hamilton lead to 4-0 in the top of the seventh, plating St. Jarre with her NESCAC-leading 15th double of the season and Leonard sealed the win, striking out two batters in the bottom of the seventh and retiring the Thoroughbreds in order.

Cassie Fishkin was tagged with the loss despite a strong outing on the mound. She gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits over seven innings.

The Thoroughbreds, who are making their second consecutive postseason appearance for the first time in program history, compete at the Liberty League Tournament April 30-May 2 in Rochester, N.Y. Skidmore takes on Liberty League regular season champion Rochester at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30.Â
