SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—Union held off a late charge by the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team to wrap up a perfect Liberty League season with a 9-8 win, Saturday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.
The Thoroughbreds, who had their seven-game win streak snapped, matched a program record with 12 wins, closing out the regular season with an overall record of 12-4 and a conference record of 7-2. Â The Dutchwomen finished 11-3 overall and 9-0 in league play.

Union will host the Liberty League Championship Tournament Friday (semifinal games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.) and Saturday (championship game at 3 p.m.). Skidmore will be the second seed.

Tyler Phillips led Skidmore with four goals, becoming the fourth player in program history to score 50 goals in a season and extending her point streak to 23 games.
Spencer Morgan added two goals, to become the team's 13th 100-career goal scorer.
Emma Harris pushed her scoring streak to 12 and
Caroline Bowne also scored. Â In goal,
Megan Kolopsky stopped eight shots. Phillips also had four draw controls and Kolopsky posted five ground balls.
Natalie Sullivan and Emily McGrail scored three goals each and Union got single scores from Maggie Comiskey, Ciara Dudeck, Jackie Hagopian and Cialin Pandolfi. Comiskey, who entered the week tied for 20th in assists in NCAA Division III, had five assists on the day. The Dutchwomen had a 24-21 shot advantage and each team recorded 16 ground balls. Union converted three of four free position shots. In goal, Kim Grinhaus made eight saves and collected four ground balls.
McGrail gave Union an early led, netting her first of the day 3:52 into the contest, but Phillips responded for Skidmore, potting back-to-back goals for her 49th and 50th of the saeosn. With the game tied at 2-2, Morgan and Phillips scored at 14:48 and 12:07 of the first half for a 4-2 lead. Union knotted it up again with goals by McGrail and Comiskey before Bowne gave the visitors a 5-4 lead with 1:03 left in the first half.

Union came out with three straight to start the second half with a goal by Dudek and two tallies by Sullivan for a 7-5 lead with 22:36 remaining. However, Skidmore came firing back with back-to-back goals from Morgan and Harris , tying the game at 7-7 for the fifth tie of the game.

Hagopian restored the home side's lead with 12:32 to play and Sullivan added the eventual game winner on a free position score with 3:35 remaining.

The Thoroughbreds pressed late, as Phillips cut the deficit to one with 2:53 with her fourth of the contest. Skidmore had one final chance, but Phillips shot caromed off the post and Union collected the ensuing ground ball, running out the clock for the 9-8 win.

The Thoroughbreds will take on third seed Vassar Friday, May 1 in the Liberty League semifinals.
