SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- RIT pounded out 30 hits in a 13-2, 14-7 Liberty League baseball sweep of Skidmore, Saturday at Castle Diamond. The teams will play another pair on Sunday, starting at 12 p.m.
The Thoroughbreds are 7-15 and 1-11 in league play. The Tigers improve to 15-5 and 9-2.
In the first game, RIT scored five runs in the first inning and four more in the sixth on the way to the 13-2 win.
For Skidmore,
Jeb Clarke went 3-4 with a run.
Josh Brown was 2-3 with an RBI.
Phil Sammon led the Tigers, going 2-4 with two runs, a home run, double, and three RBI. C.J. Bolorin was 3-5 with a double and two RBI.
Ethan Humbert (4-1) got the win. He allowed two runs in nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts in five innings.
RIT started the second game the same way as the first game with five runs in its half of the first. Starter Rory Little improved to 4-0 with a solid seven innings. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.
Shawn Klier was 2-4 for Skidmore with two RBI.
Sam Schaut was 1-1 with two RBI. Mike Lavita and
Shankar Mani each doubled. Clarke was 1-4 with two runs.
Chris Barr was 2-5 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs for the Tigers. Bolorin went 2-4 with a run to finish the day 5-9.
