SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team scored the game's final five goals in a 10-7 come-from-behind win over Utica College, Wednesday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds are off to a 3-1 start, while the Pioneers fall to 1-2.

Tyler Philips scored four goals and to lead Skidmore.
Spencer Morgan had two goals and an assist, while
Brittney Dioneda had a goal, assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Â
Rachel Talanian had four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Megan Kane led Utica with three goals, three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls.

Utica went in front early in a low scoring first half. Megan Kane scored on a free position at 23:27 and then made it 2-0 at 17:44.Â
Allison Byrne put Skidmore on the board at 10:25 with her fourth of the season. Â That was it for the offense in the half, with Thoroughbred goal
Megan Kolopsky and Utica goalie Kells Casey credited with six saves each.

The Pioneers opened the second half with early goals by Tewasherake Barnes and Courtney Wheeler to take a 4-1 lead. Skidmore responded with three straight to tie it 4-4. Morgan scored on a free position, followed by two goals from Phillips, with tying goal coming on a free position at 20:58.

Utica scored three of the next four goals to go up 7-5 with 10:06 to play. Patricia Kane, Megan Kane, and Brooke Miller each scored, while Morgan found the net in the middle of the run for the Thoroughbreds.

Dioneda started the final run for the Thoroughbreds when Morgan fed her a perfect pass in front for her third goal of the season at 9:18. Phillips evened the score at 7-7 with a spin move helped her beat two Utica defenders for an open shot at 7:55.
Peggy Healy gave Skidmore its first lead of the game two minutes later when Dioneda intercepted a clearing pass and quickly got the ball to her for goal and 8-7 advantage. Morgan and
Paige DiAntonio tallied insurance goals for the 10-7 final.

Utica outshot Skidmore 26-19, while the Thoroughbreds had a 24-19 edge in ground balls.

Kolopsky finished with 11 saves, while Casey had eight.

Skidmore heads west to take on Colorado College on March 18. Utica hosts Potsdam on March 14 at 12 p.m.
