ResultsSARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College swimming and diving opened its 2015-2016 with a split against Liberty League opponent St. Lawrence, Friday evening at the Williamson Sports Center.

The men's team narrowly edged out a 117-116 win, while the women fell 116-68.

Freshman
Hiro Kamei led the way for the men's team in his first collegiate meet, placing first 200-yard individual medley (2:06.26) and the 100-yard breaststroke in a program record time of 1:01.25. He also teamed with fellow rookies
Harrison Shockley and
Teague Costello as well as senior
Charlie Bullis for first in the 200-yard medley relay (1:42.22). Shockley also won the 100-yard backstroke (57.43), while Bullis was first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.74).

Gabriel Salitan-Alvarez was also a dual winner, touching first in the 500 (5:12.79) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:36.87).

Senior
Yookee Roh and junior
Erin Donovan paced the women's team, capturing first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.39) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.83), respectively.
Caroline Tuttle had a strong performance in the 100 Breast, finishing second with a time of 1:16.44.

"We opened tonight with an extremely competitive meet," said Skidmore head coach
Jill Belding Greenleaf. "Our men's meet came down to the wire besting SLU by a mere point. The strong leadership in the water by
Charlie Bullis and Gabriel Salitan-Alverez was critical in securing the victory. Our freshman class had some outstanding swims, and we're looking forward to the continued improvement of all of our swimmers and divers.
