UTICA, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team took part in the SUNY Poly Tournament, Oct. 2-3.
The Thoroughbreds (5-14) dropped three matches by identical 3-1 scores. They opened with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22) loss to Plattsburgh, followed by a 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 25-19) loss to St. John Fisher. The host school defeated Skidmore 3-1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-18, 25-22) in the final match.
The Thoroughbreds travel to Middlebury College, Oct. 6 for a 7 p.m. match.
Highlights against Plattsburgh included another double/double for
Caite Canfield. She had 14 kills and 19 digs to go along with four aces and three blocks.
Bailey Hutchins had a double/double with 14 digs and 22 assists and
Rachel Licata had a season-high five blocks.
Against Fisher, Canfield had 42 digs and 14 kills.
Allie Dillon had 25 digs and Marcela Familiar had 24 digs.
In the final match against Poly, Canfield had her third double/double of the tournament with 18 digs and 11 kills. Dillon contributed 17 digs and 10 kills and
Kalle Fox had a double/double of her own with 17 assists and 11 digs.
Clara Jones and
Brittany Osborne had three blocks each.
