SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Fallon Adair scored two second half goals to lead seventh ranked William Smith team to a 2-1 Liberty League field hockey win over eighth ranked Skidmore College, Sunday afternoon at Wagner Park.

The win secures the regular season title and home field playoff advantage for the Herons who are 15-1 and 5-1 in league play. The Thoroughbreds are 11-5 and 4-2 and will be seeded third and travel to Rochester for a semifinal game on Nov. 4. The championship game is Nov. 7 at the highest remaining seed.Â

Skidmore has won two straight and six of the last seven Liberty League tournaments.

The loss snaps the team's 29-game home Liberty League win streak that dated back to 2009.

First half scoring chances were at a premium, but the Skidmore got on the board first when
Seeley Fancher scored off a scramble in front from Krista Lamoreux on a at 17:31.

The Herons tied it at 46:21 when Hannah Wood made a spin move to get a shot off that Adair was able to tip-in. Adair scored the game winner when she redirected a high shot from Maura Moran at 66:25.

Skidmore had a 12-9 shot and 8-4 penalty corner advantage.

Jenn Hanks added a defensive save for the Thoroughbreds. Biz Chirco recorded six saves Alexandra Frary had a defensive save for William Smith.

Skidmore will close out the regular season with nonconference home games on Oct. 28 at 3:30 against Oneonta and Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. vs. Nazareth
