Rochester takes two from Skidmore

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester ran its softball winning streak to eight in a row as the Yellowjackets swept Skidmore College, 11-3, and 12-0, in a Liberty League doubleheader at Southside Field on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Yellowjackets improved to 13-7 overall, 6-0 in the Liberty League. The Thoroughbreds, who swept RIT with final at-bat rallies on Saturday, are 9-13 overall, 3-3 Liberty League.
 
Rochester jumped in front, 9-0, after four innings in game 1. Skidmore scored a pair of runs off in the fifth, then added one more in the top of the sixth. Rochester scored twice in the sixth to end the game.  Brittany Osborn went 2-3 with an RBI.
 
In the nitecap, the Yellowjackets took advantage of 13 hits – all singles – plus six walks. Rochester put together a seven-run rally in the bottom of the second to take command.  Skidmore did not get a hit in the contest.
 
Lauren Fortunato took the loss for Skidmore in the opener. She pitched the first three innings, then returned in the bottom of the fifth. In 4.2 inings, she allowed 11 hits, nine runs (five were earned), walked five, and struck out one. Lila Rosenfeld pitched one inning, yielding one hit, two walks, two earned runs and getting one strikeout.
 
Cassie Fishkin pitched all four innings for Skidmore in game two. She allowed 13 hits and walked six without getting a strikeout.
 
The Thoroughbreds host Utica in a pair on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
