Women's lacrosse falls against Hamilton

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team was topped by Hamilton College, 15-7, in a non-conference matchup, Tuesday evening at Wachenheim Field.
 
Freshman midfielder Tyler Phillips netted four goals and added an assist to go along with a game-high six draw controls and Spencer Morgan added two goals for the Thoroughbreds (1-5).
 
Kathryn Maiorano led the Continentals (3-3) with five goals, Katie D'Antonio produced six points, scoring a hat trick and adding three assists and Margaret Gabriel potted three goals.
 
The Continentals got out to a 2-0 lead just over five minutes into the contest with tallies from Taylor Ryan and Gabriel, but Morgan cut the Skidmore deficit in half, converting on a close range shot at 23:42. After Maiorano restored Hamilton's two-goal lead at 17:11, Morgan responded for the Thoroughbreds 63 seconds later, dodging a Continentals defender and ripping a long-range shot into the top corner.
 
Hamilton pulled ahead 5-2 with goals from D'Antonio and Maiorano, but Phillips and Peggy Healy scored 96 seconds apart to bring Skidmore within one at the half.
 
The Thoroughbreds carried the momentum into the second, as Phillips scored the equalizer 40 seconds into the half. Maiorano put Hamilton back in front at 24:03 and Skidmore could not find a way back, as the Continentals poured in ten goals in the half, pulling away for the 15-7 win.

Hamilton outshot Skidmore 30-13 and had a 22-19 advantage in ground balls, while the Thoroughbreds owned a 15-9 edge in draw controls. Megan Kolopsky made eight saves in goal for Skidmore, while Kari Koga turned away six shots at the other end.
