Softball opens season at Rebel Spring Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, FL -- The Skidmore College softball team opened its 2014 season at the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven, FL on Sunday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds fell 12-2 to Simpson College in their season opener, and were knocked off by Simpson College, 9-1, on Sunday evening.
 
In the first game, the Storm jumped out to 4-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back. Lauren Gorstein went 1-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI and Abby Shea was 1-3 with an RBI.
 
In the second game, Shea drove in Katie Amo in the top of the fifth, but the Yellow Jackets responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull away.  Shea and Gorstein were 2-3. Cassie Fishkin went the distance on the mound and was 1-3 with a double.
 
Skidmore faces the College of Mount St. Joseph Monday, March 10 at 1 p.m. before taking on Wheaton College at 3:30 p.m.
