Skidmore basketball takes on Clarkson

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Skidmore College women's and men's basketball teams will both look to extend their winning-streaks when they host a doubleheader against Clarkson, Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The Thoroughbreds (8-11, 3-7) will be looking to avenge a mid-season overtime loss to the Golden Knights on Tuesday when the teams meet for the second time in a month.
 
Skidmore is coming off back-to-back conference wins against Bard and RPI. Molly McLaughlin scored a season-high 20 points against the Engineers and Angela Botiba recorded her eighth double-double of the season.
 
Clarkson possesses the league's top scoring defense, holding opponents to 56.6 points per game on 33-percent shooting.  The duo of Ashley Loggins and Cara Manfredi bolster the Golden Knights defense, ranking second and third respectively in steals per game.
 
Manfredi and Loggins also pose the biggest threat on the offensive end of the floor. Manfredi ranks third in the Liberty League in points per game (16.1) and shoots 35-percent from beyond the arc, while Loggins is eighth in the conference in scoring (14.4 ppg) to go along with a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game.

The Thoroughbreds (12-7, 6-4) will attempt to extend their three-game winning streak when they host the Golden Knights on Tuesday.
 
Skidmore was dominant in wins against Bard and RPI last weekend. The Thoroughbreds, who currently sit in fourth in the conference, have found a balance at both ends of the floor, ranking third in the Liberty League in scoring offense (78.1 ppg) and scoring defense (70.6 ppg). Tanner Brooks is averaging 16.3 points and is shooting 82-percent (14-17) from 3-point range and 57-percent (16-28) from the field over the last three contests.
 
Clarkson has been one of the most consistent shooting teams this season, ranking second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.377) and third in field goal percentage (.463).  The Golden Knights have also protected the ball effectively this season, possessing a conference-best 1.55 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
John Coleman has led the way for Clarkson this season. He ranks first in the conference in field goal percentage (.566), steals per game (2.5), third in the conference in scoring (18.9 ppg) and fourth in rebounds per game (7.2). Marques Chalrton has been another key contributor for the Golden Knights. He ranks second in the Liberty League in 3-point field goal percentage (.407), third in 3-point field goals per game (2.6), third in assists per game (3.6) sixth in scoring (17.4 ppg) and seventh in steals per game (1.5).
