Balanced scoring leads Skidmore past Bard, 64-49

Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Every player on the Skidmore College women's basketball team chipped in with points, helping the Thoroughbreds to a 64-49 Liberty League win against Bard, Friday night at the Williamson Sports Center.
 
Molly McLaughlin scored 11 points to go along with 7 assists and four rebounds, Jordyn Wartts chipped in with a team-high 14 points and Angela Botiba added 10 points and six boards.

Wartts tallied five points in the opening two and a half minutes to give Skidmore an early 7-2 lead, but the Raptors responded with a 15-5 run capped by a Tytravia Riley jumper to take a 17-12 midway through the first.
 
Ella Scheuerell helped the Thoroughbreds take control of the game with a 3-pointer with 9:07 to play in the first, sparking a 15-2 run to close out the first half.  Seven different Skidmore players tallied points during the final nine minutes of the first half.
 
The second half proved to be more of the same as the Thoroughbreds opened the half on a 12-4 run. Lindsey Davis knocked down a three to extend the Thoroughbreds lead to 44-23 with 16:18 to play in the second and the Raptors could not find a way back.
 
Bard's Tytravia Riley registered a double-double, scoring a game-high 21 points and adding 12 rebounds and Liz Freud had 15 points and seven boards.
 
Skidmore shot 41.9-percent from the field on 26-of-62 shooting, while holding the Raptors to 37.7-percent (20-53).
 
The Thoroughbreds, who snapped a four-game losing streak, travel to RPI Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
