Women's lacrosse defeated by Union

Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team fell 16-5 to Liberty League opponent, Union College, Friday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.

Emma Harris scored two goals, while teammate Spencer Morgan scooped up three groundballs, caused one turnover and secured two draw controls to go along with her two goals.  Robin Fetterolf rounded out the Thoroughbred scoring with one goal.

Union received scoring contributions from seven different players, led by Emily McGrail's four goals on five shots.  Brittany Fraser and Jessica Farland each tallied three goals in the win.

Union opened the game with a Fraser goal at 28:33, but was Skidmore quickly evened the score when Fetterolf converted on the free position opportunity making it 1-1.

The Dutchwomen countered, scoring four unanswered goals before the Thoroughbreds could tally a mark with Morgan finding nylon at 16:15.

The home team closed out the first half with another deep scoring run, this time reeling off five unanswered goals to hold a 10-2 advantage as both teams broke for intermission.

Union continued to roll in the second half, outscoring the Thoroughbreds six goals to three en route to the 16-5 win.

Skidmore slides to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in the League standings while Union kept its playoff hopes alive as the win moved them into a fourth place tie in the conference standings at 5-3.

Skidmore will close out its regular season Saturday with a road contest against Williams Smith College at 2 p.m.
