Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College softball team used efficient pitching and timely hitting to sweep Cazenovia College, 10-4 and 7-1, Saturday at Wagner Park.

The Thoroughbreds are 8-12, while the Wildcats drop to 0-8.

In the first game, Skidmore put up a season-high 10 runs on nine hits and took advantage of five Cazenovia errors.  Katie Peverada went 3-3 with two doubles and an RBI to lead the Thoroughbreds. Catcher Carol Brown was 2-2 with a pair of runs and an RBI. She also threw out two runners.   Lila Rosenfeld went 1-3 with a double and two RBI.

Katie Sorochka got the win, allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits with six walks and eight strikeouts.

Alyssa Connor had a two-run homer for the Wildcats.

In the second game, Skidmore scored a pair of unearned runs in the third to take a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats got one back in the top of the fourth with an unearned run of their own to cut it to 2-1.

Skidmore tacked on two more in the fourth when Cassie Fishkin helped her own cause with a towering two-run home run to left field for a 4-1 lead.

The Thoroughbreds added three more unearned runs in the sixth for the 7-1 final.

Fishkin earned her first collegiate win on the mound, allowing only one unearned run on four hits, two walks and four strikeouts.  She was 2-3 at the plate with two runs. Mackenzie Whiting went 2-4 with two RBI.  Rosenfeld went 1-4 with a double. Brown was tough behind the plate again, throwing out two more runners.


Skidmore is a Sage for a pair on Wednesday at 3:30.
