Box Score 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College softball dropped a pair to Castleton State, 11-8 and 8-2 in its first home games of the season, Monday at Wagner Park.
The Thoroughbreds fall to 4-10, while the Spartans improve to 2-8.
In the first game, Skidmore came from seven runs down and had the tying run on first in the bottom of the seventh before losing 11-8.
Castleton took a 9-2 lead with three in the second and six runs in the fourth.
The Thoroughbreds battled back with a two in the fifth on a two-out two-run home run by
Cassie Fishkin to cut it to 9-4.
Lila Rosenfeld had a two-out RBI double in the sixth to make it 9-5. Castleton scored a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a Brittany Brayman home run. Skidmore scored three in the bottom of the seventh, to make it 11-8.
Christine Munisteri had a pinch-hit two-run single to key the rally. The Thoroughbreds had bases loaded with one out, but a line drive snag by Spartan shortstop Kristy Pinkham turned into a double play to end the threat.

Katie Peverada was 3-4 with a pair of RBI.

Julia Schwartz, and
Katie Sorochka had two hits each. Sorochka took the loss.
Cassie Fishkin pitched three solid innings of relief, allowing one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts.
Also for Castleton, Chelsea Grady had a two-run home run in the sixth and Caylee Fleury had a three-run double in the sixth. Emily Sweeney had the complete game win.
In the second game, Castleton scored six runs over the first three innings on the way to the 8-2 win.
Skidmore's scoring came on a two-run single by Sorochka in the bottom of the first. Sorochka had two of the team's five hits. Fishkin had two scoreless innings of relief of Schwartz.
Jessic Babcock went 3-4 for Castleton. Tori Fearon and Stephanie Sylvester had a pair of hits each and Chelsea Crehan had a two-run double. Taylor Lively earned the complete game win, allowing no earned runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Skidmore will host Cobleskill on Tuesday at 3:30.
