Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College women's basketball team returned to first place in the Liberty League with a 46-44 win over St. Lawrence University, Tuesday night at the Williamson Sports Center.
The Thoroughbreds are 10-3 in the conference and 12-10 overall. The Saints drop to 9-3 and 15-6.
Dani DeGregory led all scorers with 13 points off the bench for Skidmore.
Jordyn Wartts added 12 points, three steals, and two blocks, while
Angela Botiba had 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
Kara McDuffee led St. Lawrence with 12 points. Kelly Legg contributed 11 points and nine rebounds.
St. Lawrence lead by six at the break, 27-21 behind four threes, including two by Cassie St. Hilaire.
Skidmore opened the second half with an 11-0 run, going up five 32-27 with 15:22 to play on a DeGregory lay-up. The Thoroughbreds led the rest of the way, holding the Saints without a field goal for the first 11:17 of the second half.
St. Lawrence did get within one, 45-44, when Kelly Legg hit the front end of a pair of free throws with 45 seconds to play. After a Skidmore miss, the Saints missed consecutive shots with 11 seconds left, before
Molly McLaughlin hit the second of two free throws for Skidmore to get it back to two, 46-44 with four seconds left. McDuffee got a final shot off from half court that went off the back rim at the buzzer.
Skidmore is off until a Feb. 12 game at Clarkson.
