SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.- (Skidmore coaching staff)--Skidmore will finish its four game run as part of the NESCAC with their fourth game in as many games vs. a NESCAC team, today at home when the Middlebury Panthers visit the Williamson Sports Center for a women's and men's basketball double header. The women will lock horns at 2:00 pm and the men tip off at 4:00 pm.
Â
Skidmore is coming off a loss to the nations #5 team, Williams College on Monday. The Thoroughbreds held Williams to 55 points, but were only able to garner 34 of their own points bringing the team to a season record of 1-4 heading into today's game.
Â
Middlebury is led by head coach Noreen Pecsok in her 16
th season at the helm for Middlebury. They are sitting at 3-2 for the season alternating a win with a loss all season long. The Middlebury Panthers are led by seniors Laura Lowry 9 point and 4 rebounds a game, Sarah Marcus 11 points a game and Katie Pett, averaging a double-double, 10 points and 14 rebounds per game. Coach Bennett says, "Middlebury is a well coached team with tremendous speed and quickness at all five positions. Their offensive sets are honed and with a veteran led team, their ability to make reads vs. defensive adjustments can make defending difficult on every possession."Â
Â
Skidmore is led by senior
Jordyn Wartts, and juniors
Molly McLaughlin and
Angela Botiba. They have provided steady play all season long for the home team Thoroughbreds. "Our team continues to get better and better every game out and its really exciting to see. Our progress in the little things keeps improving and our belief in ourselves is evident in the way we perform every game out," says coach Bennett about his team. Bennett also adds, "right now we are looking for more consistent play from our non-starters. That's what we are going to need to compete as the season continues and we move into conference play in January." The Thoroughbreds non-starters are led by sophomore,
Ella Scheuerell. She is averaging 5 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.
Â
Today's game should be a good match up for both teams in non-conference play.
