SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- Skidmore women's basketball resumes it's non-conference play vs. Williams College at home tonight at 7:30 pm at the Williamson Sports Center on the campus of Skidmore College.
In the Skidmore's last outing at Hamilton on Monday, November 25, they outlasted the home team with the help of 5 extra minutes in overtime 77-67.
Jordyn Wartts led the way for the road team with a double double, 24 points and 12 rebounds in 42 minutes of play before fouling out with three minutes remaining in overtime.
Lindsey Davis chipped in with 15 points and
Molly McLaughlin added 14 points in 45 minutes of play at the point guard position.
Angela Botiba had 10 rebounds and 9 points in 28 minutes, playing most of the game in foul trouble.
Ella Scheuerell came off the bench to add 8 points and 9 rebounds in 31 minutes.
The Williams College Ephs are coming off a magical season with a trip to the 2013 Final Four and are off to a 6-0 start this season winning their games by an average of 19 points. They return two starters from their Final Four team, Kellie Macdonald and Ellen Cook who lead this year's team in scoring, 13.2 and 12.5 points per game.
Coach Bennett says, "The Williams Ephs are a tough team to play against because of their total team size, with the potential to start a lineup consisting of four players 5'10 or taller. Their entire roster has two players shorter than 5'10 and they are athletics, can score, defend, block shots. They play with a lot of spunk and energy. They switch a lot on the defensive end and have the capability to create some real mismatches on offense. There is no doubt that this will be the longest and overall most athletic team we've played this season." Coach Bennett added, "We will be staring in the eyes of a big challenge tonight vs. Williams but I know our team will come to fight it out to the end."
"Our team continues to grow and get better, the process is so fun and exciting to watch. Many of our players are young in their college basketball careers or young in minutes played over their careers, and the game competition thus far season has allowed them to gain more and more confidence under the pressure of a real game which no matter how hard you try you cannot simulate in practice. We are excited for the fight and ready to mix it up tonight."
