Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Skidmore College softball team's season came to an end with Tuesday afternoon's 8-3 loss to Middlebury at Thoroughbred Field.

The Thoroughbreds end their season at 13-24, while the Panthers improve to 20-13.
 
Middlebury grabbed an early 2-0 lead after back-to-back RBI singles from Emily Kraytenberg and Jess Poracky in the first.  They made it 3-0 in the fifth on Kimber Sable's run-scoring single.
 
Skidmore broke through in the sixth as Katie Sorochka blasted a two-run shot to center, her team-leading fourth homerun of the season, to cut the lead to 3-2.  But the Panthers answered right back as they scored five runs on six hits in the top of the seventh, highlighted by Kraytenberg's two-run double, to push the lead to 8-2.
 
Julia Martin led off the bottom of the seventh with a homerun to left center, the first of her collegiate career, but that's as close as the Thoroughbreds would get as Middlebury earned the 8-3 win.
 
Sam Crose (9-11) took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits over 4.1 innings, while Abby Fuhrman allowed five runs over the final 2.2 innings in relief.
 
Alexa Lesenskyj (8-7) earned the win, allowing one run over the first three innings and just the Martin homerun over the final 1.2 innings.  Marcela Olvera allowed two runs on three hits in 2.1 innings of relief.
 
Prior to the game, the Thoroughbreds honored their five senior players – Lauren Bernstein, Molly Canavan, Sam Crose, Abby Furhman and Christina Gargiso as well as their volunteer assistant coach, Lauren Tobias.
