Lexi Melville posted a career-high seven points to lead the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team to a 13-5 win over Rochester in Saturday's Liberty League matchup.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Yellowjackets fall to 1-6 overall and 0-2 league.
Liza Maizel scored two goals for Rochester, while Niki Holmes, Sarah Skinner and Kayleigh Hogan scored one goal apiece.
The Thoroughbreds posted an early 2-0 lead and never looked back after running off five straight goals in the first half to take a 7-2 lead into the break.
The second half was much of the same as Skidmore never allowed the Yellowjackets to get closer than within six goals in the second half en route to the 13-5 victory.
Rachel Klein played the first 51:45 in goal for the Thoroughbreds. She allowed four goals and made eight saves. Shelby Witheford played the last 8:45 with one goal against and four saves.
Rochester's Maddie Elia played all 60 minutes for the Yellowjackets. She made 12 saves.
Skidmore caused 11 turnovers, two apiece by Melville, Abbie Hamlin and Caroline Bowne. The Thoroughbreds collected 25 ground balls. Fetterolf and Brown had three each among the field players. Klein had five to leave Skidmore.
For Rochester, Elizabeth Kilbridge had four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Maizel also caused four turnovers. Holmes collected four ground balls. As a team, Rochester caused 13 turnovers and scooped 16 ground balls.
Skidmore returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Mount Holyoke for a 6 p.m. start.
