Kissimmee, Fla. - The Skidmore College softball team dropped a pair of games in the opening day of the 2012 Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Thoroughbreds lost the opener to Roger Williams, 2-1 and dropped the nightcap to Presentation College, 5-4. They are now 2-2 on the season.
In the opener,
Sam Crose tossed a complete game, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out six. Freshman
Donata Lorenzo drove in
Julia Schwartz with two outs in the fourth inning, accounting for the Skidmore offense.
In the loss to Presentation,
the Thoroughbreds started the scoring in the 1st inning when Carol Brown drew a walk and was driven in on an RBI triple by Schwartz. Schwartz stayed hot in the second inning with an RBI double, scoring senior Lauren Bernstein. Skidmore added two more runs in the 5th as Brown had a singled, stole second, and was brought in on an RBI single by Abby Shea. Schwartz would tack on another RBI with a ground ball that scored Shea. Schwartz finished with three RBI while Sorochka took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs in five innings.
