Senior Day for Thoroughbred women

Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- A late second half rally carried the Union College women's basketball team to a 60-53 win over Skidmore College and into the Liberty League playoffs, Saturday at the Williamson Sports Center.
 
The Dutchwomen (13-11, 9-7 Liberty) outscored the Thoroughbreds (15-10, 8-8) 27-9 over the final 11:44 of regulation for the win.
 
Skidmore built a 27-26 lead at the half behind seven points from senior Megan Gaugler and six from Jordyn Wartts.  The Thoroughbreds came out strong in the second half, using a 17-7 run capped by Gaugler three-pointer to lead 44-33 with 12:29 to play.
 
Union battled back with its final run, taking the lead for good 52-51 on a Kate Thompson lay-up with 3:18 to play. 
 
Gaugler finished with a team-high 13 points and added nine rebounds and four steals.  Senior Christina Gargiso had 11 points and eight boards, while senior Jessie Kavana added five points and four assists.  Senior Logan Frederick contributed five points and three rebounds.
 
Thompson and Shayla Madden scored 14 each for Union. Thompson scored 12 of her points in the second half. Brittney Kenney added 13 points and nine rebounds.
 
Union will travel to top-seed St. Lawrence on Wednesday for a Liberty League semifinal.
