NYU holds off upset minded Skidmore

Box Score New York, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's basketball team battled New York University to the wire before dropping a close 66-63 decision in the Violet classic on Saturday.

The Thoroughbreds (2-6) will play SUNY Plattsburgh in a predetermined contest on Sunday at 1 p.m.  NYU (6-3) plays William Smith College.

Skidmore led 34-29 at the half, before the Violets regained the lead in the second. The teams exchanged leads six times in the second half.

Dani DeGregory hit a lay-up with :38 left in the game to get the Thoroughbreds to within one, 64-63, but  The Violets went 2-4 from the line over the final seconds for the 66-63 final.

DeGregory led Skidmore with 13 points and three assists off the bench. Angela Botitba had nine points and 11 rebounds, while Skylar Caligaris added 10 points.
