Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team outscored Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences 20-8 over the final 9:48 en route to a 55-42 win Thursday night at the Williamson Sports Center.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 2-2 on the year while handing the Panthers (3-1) their first loss of the season.
Skidmore led throughout the first half, pushing its lead to as many as 11 after a pair of
Molly McLaughlin free throws. ACPHS was able to cut the lead to three after an 8-0 run to end the half capped by a pair of Alyson Johnson free throws. The Thoroughbreds held a 22-19 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Panthers were able to cut the lead down to one on two different occasions, but Skidmore held ACPHS to just eight points over the final 11:26. The Thoroughbreds pushed their lead to double-digits on a
Dani DeGregory three with 4:50 remaining and got it up to 13 after a
Skylar Caligaris three with 3:04 remaining. The Panthers were unable to get within single digits over the final 4:50 as Skidmore earned the 55-42 win.
Jordyn Wartts scored a team-high 11 for the Thoroughbreds and McLaughlin added 10 points and three steals.
Angela Botiba had eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds while
Logan Frederick chipped in with eight points and 10 boards.
For ACPHS, Taylor Sullivan and Alyson Johnson each finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Kelsey Johnson added six points, five rebounds and five assists.
Skidmore outrebounded the Panthers 45-30 and held a 14-2 advantage on second chance points.
The Thoroughbreds host #9 Amherst this Saturday at 2 p.m.
