Thoroughbreds sweep Utica

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming & diving teams picked up convincing wins over Utica, Saturday at the Williamson Sports Center.  The women earned a 185-92 win, while the men won 173-75.
 
Kristen Stearns set a new school record in the 11 dive 1-meter with a combined score of 364.66, winning both the six dive (207.83) and five dive (156.83) 1-meter events.  Carrie Koch, Catherine King and Yookee Roh were triple-winners for the Thoroughbreds. The trio teamed up with Sarah Shaw to open the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay (2:00.26).
 
Koch was an individual winner in the 200 Free (2:04.04) and 200 Breast (2:39.73), while King took first in the 100 Back (1:04.45) and 500 Free (5:38.12) and Roh touched first in the 50 Free (26.39) and 100 Fly (1:03.93).  Other individual winners on the women's side included Shaw in the 1000 (11:49.82) and Somer Witherow in the 200 Back (2:28.23), while Katie Kuklewicz won the 100 Free (59.99) and had the fastest time in the 200 IM (2:28.40).
 
For the men, Jacob Nathan swept the diving events as well, winning the 1-meter six dive (221.63) and five dive (144.23). Four different Thoroughbreds earned multiple individual wins and the opening 200 Medley Relay (1:45.40) of Lyle Stephenson, Robert Fulton, Logan Jones and Greg Amoresano took first.
 
Nick Sauerbrunn was top finisher in the 1000 Free (10:53.89) and 200 Breast (2:32.26), while Peter Quattromani placed first in the 200 Free (1:57.83) and 500 Free (5:14.66).  Mario Hyman was a double-winner taking the 100 Back (1:00.06) and 100 Fly (58.48) and Jesse Adler added a pair of victories in the 200 Fly (2:10.98) and 100 Free (53.60).  Other individual winners included Stephenson in the 200 Back (2:08.56) and Taylor Best in the 50 Free (23.80).
 
Both teams return to action on Nov. 30 at RIT for the Liberty League Championships.
