Skidmore swimmers open season at St. Lawrence

Canton, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams kicked-off their 2012-13 seasons Friday night at St. Lawrence University.  The men beat the Saints 143-60, while the women lost a tight 116-114 decision.
 
The men dominated SLU, winning all 13 events.   Jesse Adler led the onslaught winning two individual events and one relay.   Adler was part of the winning 200 medley relay with Robert Fulton, Logan Jones and Tim Brodsky in 1:43.97.  Adler also won the 200 IM (2:10.94) and 100 backstroke (56.86).  His 100 back win was one of the closest races of the day, with Adler beating Jason Dultra by 0.26 of a second.
 
Also for the men, Peter Quattromani won the 1000 free (10:53.50) and Nick Sauerbrunn took first in the 200 (1:54.92) and 500 free (5:15.97) events.   Brodsky won both the 50 (23.49) and 100 free (52.64).  Andrew Becker won the 100 fly (57.99) and Fulton touched the wall first in the 100 breast (1:08.81).
 
On the women's side, Skidmore won all the individual freestyle events, led by Carrie Koch's wins in the 1000 (11:22.28) and 500 free (5:33.88) and Catherine King's top finishes in the 50 (25.17) and 100 free (56.48). 
 
Yookee Roh won the 200 free (2:05.22) and finished second in the 100 back in a quick early season time of 1:03.53.
 
Divers Jacob Nathan and Kristen Stearns swept the men's and women's diving events.
 
"I'm very impressed with some of our performances in our first meet," said Skidmore coach Jill Greenleaf.  "We recorded some lifetime best times and scores already! The improved depth on both teams was evident tonight and we look forward to the team continuing to get stronger as the season progresses."
 
Skidmore continues its North Country trip on Saturday at Potsdam in a 1 p.m. meet.
