Box Score Springfield, Mass.-- The Springfield College women's basketball team grinded out a 58-52 win over Skidmore to claim the Hampton Inn-West Springfield/Naismith Classic Championship on Monday afternoon.

Springfield raised its record to 6-5 overall, while Skidmore fell to 6-2.

For the Thoroughbreds, several players contributed. The double-figure scorer was Megan Gaugler with 13 points and three rebounds. Jessie Kavana and Jordyn Wartts each had nine points. Angela Botiba contributed six points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Gaugler and Botiba were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Skidmore will open Liberty League play at home Friday at 6 p.m. vs. Vassar.
