Thoroughbreds back on track with North Country win

Box Score Potsdam, NY – With 10 3-pointers Skidmore College struck from the perimeter with regularity on the way to a 63-48 Liberty League win over Clarkson University Tuesday evening at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Thoroughbreds move to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Liberty Leauge, while The Golden Knights fall to 5-7 overall and remain winless in conference games at 0-4.

Skidmore blew open the game in the first half, building a 41-17 lead at the break.  The Thoroughbreds made six of their 13 3-point attempts in the half, and forced 12 turnovers with full-court pressure. Skidmore shot 50 percent from the field, while the Knights made just 26.7 percent of their attempts from the field and were held scoreless from beyond the 3-point arc. Jessie Kavana led the way for Skidmore with 11 points in the half, including three 3-pointers.

In the second half, it was more of the same, but at a slower pace as Skidmore continued to make its shots from the perimeter.  The Golden Knights cut into the lead late in the game against the Thoroughred reserves.

Kavana finished with 14 points. Angela Botiba came off the bench to score 11 points and Megan Gaugler finished with 10 points.
