Saratoga Springs, N.Y.— The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team ran its record to 4-0 with a 19-7 nonleague win over Castleton State College, Tuesday at Wachenheim Field.
The 4-0 start under first-year coach
Elizabeth Ghilardi is the program's best since the 2006 season. Castleton is 1-2.
Lindsay Stavolaled the Thoroughbreds with six goals and four assists. It was the first 10-point game for a Skidmore player since Liza Gorman set a program record of 12 points (8-4-12) vs. Rochester in 2004.
Castleton senior Marie VanDerKar scored her 200th career goal with 11:43 to play in the game. She scored 201 as time expired to lead the Spartans with two goals. She also had a game-high eight groundballs and seven caused turnovers.
Skidmore took control early.
Kimberly Segalas scored from Stavola just 23 seconds into the game. Stavola scored her first of the game at 29:01 to make it 2-0 a minute in. Ahead 5-3, the Thoroughbreds scored the final six goals of the first half, including three in the final 47 seconds to put the game away with a 11-3 lead at the break.
Five different players scored during the run, with Stavola picking up two goals and two assists. Segalas ,

Robin Fetterolf, and
Lauren McCarthy also scored.
Skidmore scored six of the first seven goals of the second half on the way to the 19-7 win.
Segalas finished with three goals and an assist, while Madden had three goals and a caused turnover. McCarthy had a big game with two goals, two assists, and a game-high 10 draw controls. Fetterolf had two goals and an assist.
The Thoroughbreds outshot Castleton 34-19.
Rachel Klein had seven saves for Skidmore, while Becki Duszak and Lily Dergyshire combined for nine saves for Castleton.
Skidmore is off until a March 30 home game against Trinity College at 7 p.m.
