Women’s basketball earns 55-41 win over Clarkson in season finale

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team held Clarkson to just 12 second half points en route to Saturday afternoon's 55-41 Liberty League win at the Williamson Sports Center.
 
The Thoroughbreds finish the season with a 12-12 overall record 8-6 in the league, while the Golden Knights wrap up the year with a 5-19 overall and 2-12 league record
 
Skidmore was able to score the first five points of the game before Clarkson was able to get any momentum, but with the scored tied 12-12, the Golden Knights went on a 10-2 run to grab an eight point lead. The Thoroughbreds fought back and went into the half trailing 29-27. 
 
The second half was all Skidmore, opening up the half with a 15-4 run to take a 42-33 lead. Clarkson shot just 3-25 (12.0%) from the field in the second half and the Thoroughbreds took advantage, outscoring the Golden Knights 28-12 in the second half to close out the season with a 55-41 victory.
 
Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y.) led the way with 10 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists as 10 different players for Skidmore scored. Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) finished with nine points, seven assists and two steals while Christina Gargiso (Staten Island, N.Y) and Molly Gile (Dover, N.H.) each added eight points.
 
Katie Goldberg led Clarkson with a game-high 14 points off the bench and Sierra Noles added 13 points and nine rebounds.
 
The Thoroughbreds dominated the glass, holding a 50-32 rebounding advantage with 17 of those coming on the offensive end.
