Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Both the Skidmore College men's and women's basketball teams will be hosting their final regular season home games this weekend as both teams battle to clinch a spot in the Liberty League Tournament.
The women are currently 11-11 overall and sit in tie fourth place in the league with a 7-5 record. The men are 14-9 overall and 8-4 in the league, they are tied for third place.
Junior
Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y.) leads the women with 13.3 points per game and classmate
Christina Gargiso (Staten Island, N.Y.) ranks second with 10.9. Sophomore
Logan Frederick (Arlington, Va.) leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per contest and senior
Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) averages a team-high 3.8 assists a game.
On the men's side, senior Jeff Altimar (Medfield, Mass.) averages 10.3 points per game, while junior Gerard O'Shea (West Sand Lake, N.Y.) averages 10.3 points and a team-high 3.8 assists. Junior Melvis Langyintuo (Tamale, Ghana) leads the way with 5.9 rebounds per game to go with 9.8 points.
On Friday, both teams will host St. Lawrence with the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men scheduled for 8 p.m. The Thoroughbreds will be taking part in the Sponsor A Soldier Drive, an event which will be taking place at all Liberty League games on Friday night.
The Big Green Scream highlights Saturday's action as Skidmore hosts Clarkson for a 2 p.m. start for the women and a 4 p.m. scheduled tip for the men. Prior to each game, the Thoroughbreds will honor their seniors in their last regular season home game. Throughout the day, there will be prizes and giveaways throughout the day and a chance to win a 32-inch Sony Bravia flatscreen TV. Chance to win prizes and admission to both games is free and you must be present to win.
