Skidmore basketball hosting Vassar, RPI in busy Liberty League weekend

Sarataoga Springs, N.Y. - The Skidmore College men's and women's basketball teams will host Liberty League foes Vassar and Rensselaer, this Friday and Saturday at the Williamson Sports Center.

Women's basketball hosts Vassar at 6 p.m. on Friday and Rensselaer at 2 p.m. on Saturday.  The Thoroughbreds are coming off a weekend split, winning at Clarkson and losing at St. Lawrence.  They have posted a 3-2 league record and a 7-8 overall record so far this season.  Junior Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y.)  is averaging 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while senior Ismatu Alison-Konteh (Bronx, N.Y.) leads the leam with 6.7 rebounds per game and classmate Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.)  leads the team and ranks fourth in the league with 3.7 assists per game.

Men's basketball is set to host Vassar at 8 p.m. on Jan. 28 and Rensselaer at 4 p.m. on Jan. 29 at the Williamson Sports Center.  Skidmore is coming off a loss to #5 Williams after a 1-1 league weekend.  They are currently 9-7 overall and 3-2 in the league on the year.  Senior Jeff Altimar (Medfield, Mass.) is averaging 10.3 points per game and recently became the 13th player in Skidmore history to record 100 career points.  Junior Melvis Langyintuo (Tamale, Ghana) leads the team in scoring with 10.9 points per game and rebounding with 5.9 a contest, while classmate Gerard O'Shea (West Sand Lake, N.Y.) is averagin 10.8 points and leads the team with 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
