Canton, N.Y. - The Skidmore College women's basketball team suffered a 67-58 loss to St. Lawrence in Saturday afternoon's Liberty League contest at Burkman Gymnasium.
The Thoroughbreds fall to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in the Liberty League, while the Saints improve to 11-3 and 2-2.
Logan Frederick recorded a double-double for Skidmore, tallying 13 points and 13 rebounds.
St. Lawrence was led by Katie Edgerton's game-high 21 points.
The two teams exchanged buckets throughout the first six minutes of the game before the Saints 13-4 run to take a 21-10 lead when Edgerton nailed a three-pointer. Skidmore would chip away and pull to within six at 30-24 with 2:31 left in the half on a three-pointer by
Jessie Kavana, but the home team closed the opening period on a 7-0 run to take a 37-24 lead into the locker room.
The visitors never seemed to grab the momentum in the second half, as the Saints held a double-digit lead throughout the frame until the final minute. With 7:09 left in the game, Murray hit a three-pointer that gave the Scarlet and Brown their largest lead of 19 at 58-39. Though
Michela Ottati hit two three pointers down the stretch to close the gap to eight, the large cushion proved to be enough as St. Lawrence celebrated a 67-58 win.
Skidmore will be home Friday against Vassar.
