Late goal drops men's soccer

Clinton, N.Y. -Bennett Weinerman scored with 2:15 left in the second half to lift Hamilton College to a 2-1 win against Skidmore College in a Liberty League men's soccer game at Hamilton's Love Field on Sept. 25.

The goal was the second of Weinerman's Hamilton career. Leo Nizzi sent the ball into the box off a corner kick and Weinerman was able to get his foot on it first. The Continentals (4-1-2 overall, 1-1-0 Liberty) then held on to complete the comeback win.

Skidmore (3-4-2, 0-1-1) seized a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Aaron Krepack scored his first goal this year on an assist from Matt Kelsey. The Thorougbreds held on to that 1-0 lead at the half.

Hamilton finally drew even in the 63rd minute. Frank Campagnano scored on a direct kick for his team-leading fifth goal. The Continentals dominated the action as they finished with a 30-15 shot advantage and took 11 corner kicks to Skidmore's three.

Eric Boole made seven saves for the winners, andNick Peterson stopped 10 shots for the Thoroughbreds.

Hamilton hosts Cazenovia College in non-league action on Sept. 29. Skidmore plays Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at home on Sept. 28.
