CLINTON, N.Y. -- Liz Rave scored three goals to lead nationally ranked No. 1 Hamilton College to a 14-8 win against Skidmore College in a Liberty League women's lacrosse game at Hamilton's Steuben Field on April 30.
Hamilton is 15-0 overall and 7-0 in the Liberty League. Skidmore is 7-9 and 3-4.
Kimberly Segalas and
Lauren Madden scored two goals apiece for the Thoroughbreds. Madden leads the team with 45 and Segalas is right behind with 43.
Abbie Klaus won a game-high four draw controls. Skidmore finished with a 15-9 advantage in that category.
Rachel Klein stopped nine shots and picked up three ground balls.
Four Continentals were sent off for three minutes each with cards in a span of about three minutes, starting with 9:01 left in the half. The Thoroughbreds took advantage of Hamilton's misfortune, and scored three times in 2 minutes, 35 seconds to pull within 4-3.
Lauren McCarthy and Segalas buried free-position shots, and
Sydney Weill scored on an assist from
Lindsay Stavola with 5:52 remaining.
The Continentals rebounded once all their players returned and scored the last three goals of the half for a 7-3 lead at the break.
Hamilton held a 31-17 advantage in shots and was credited with 30 ground balls to 19 for the Thoroughbreds. The Continentals were successful on 17 of 18 clear attempts while Skidmore was 10 of 23. Hamilton leads the all-time series 27-8, and has won the last five meetings with the Thoroughbreds.
Skidmore travels to William Smith on Saturday to wrap up its season.
