North Adams, Mass.-- Skidmore College sophomore
Sam Crose tossed a no-hit 2-0 shutout in the first game of a doubleheader sweep of Mass College of the Liberal Arts on Thursday. The Thoroughbreds won the second game 6-4.
Skidmore is 18-10, while MCLA falls to 11-19.
Crose had nine strikeouts and no walks. Two runners reached on errors as the crafty pitcher earned her fifth shutout of the season, while improving to 11-6.
The Thoroughbreds scored one in the second when
Julia Schwartz doubled and later scored on a
Christina Gargiso sacrifice fly. Skidmore made it 2-0 in the fifth with an unearned run.
In the second game,
Lauren Dinsdale keyed a four-run third with a two-run homer. Dinsdale finished 2-3. Gargiso was 3-4 and
Michelle Anderson went 2-3.
Cora Crafts had a two-run single in the third.
Abby Fuhrman earned the win, allowing four runs, three earned on seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Skidmore will host Union College on Saturday in a pair of Liberty League games, starting at 1 p.m.
