19-10 win for Thoroughbred women

Box Score

Castleton, VT - Kimberly Segalas (Stamford, CT) scored five goals to
lead nine different Thoroughbred scorers in a 19-10 non-conference win
over Castleton State College Monday evening in women's lacrosse action
at Spartan Stadium.

MacKenzie Staub (East Northport, NY) added four goals and Lauren Madden
(Huntington, NY) three for Skidmore (3-1). Lindsay Stavola (Montauk, NY)
added one goal and three assists, while Abbie Klaus (Bethesda, MD)
chipped in two goals and one assist and Lexi Melville (Syosset, NY) one
goal and one assist. Sydney Weill (Woodbridge, CT), Leslie Stebbins
(Wilton, CT), and Lauren McCarthy (Ipswich, MA) each found the back of
the net once.

Klaus and Madden each scored inside the first three minutes of play to
stake the Thoroughbreds to a 2-0 lead that they would not relinquish.
Marie VanDerkar (Manchester, VT) scored the first of her eight goals to
cut the lead in half, but Klaus and Segalas answered in succession to
push the lead 4-1. VanDerKar scored all six of Castleton's first-half
tallies to keep the game within reach at 11-6 heading into intermission,
but in the second half, the balance of the Thoroughbred attack proved to
be too much.

Rachel Klein (Far Hills, NJ) picked up the win in between the pipes for
Skidmore, stopping five shots on net. McCarthy not only contributed in
the scoring column for the Thoroughbreds, but she was also crucial to
the possession game, grabbing a team-high seven draw controls, to go
along with four ground balls.

Skidmore will travel to Trinity on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m.
non-conference affair.
