Colorado Springs, Colo.-- The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team lost its first game of the season, 14-13 at Colorado College.
The Thoroughbreds are 2-1, while the Tigers are 4-0.
Down 14-8 late in the second half, Skidmore scored the game's final five goals over the last eight minutes, falling one short of tying the game.
Lindsay Stavola scored the first four goals of the run, while
Lauren Madden had two assists and a goal at 2:39 left to make it 14-13. Colorado College's defense regrouped to hold the Thoroughbreds off the board for the final 2:39 and the win.
Stavola finished with four goals, while Madden had three goals, two assists and three draw controls..
Lauren McCarthy and
Kimberly Segalas had two goals and three draw controls each. McCarthy added four ground balls, while Segalas had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Thoroughbreds also got a strong game out of defender
Amber Kinsey.
Rachel Kleinhad eight saves in goal for Skidmore.
The Thoroughbreds return to action March 22 at Castleton State.
