Michela Ottati scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Skidmore College women's basketball team to a 75-43 win over Potsdam, Tuesday night at the Williamson Sports Center.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 3-4, while the Bears fall to 1-7.
Skidmore was in control from the opening tip as they never trailed throughout the game and were able to build up as big of a lead as 17 in the first half and take a 34-21 lead into halftime.
The second half was more of the same for the Thoroughbreds as their defense continued to lock down Potsdam and their offense started to click as they put together a 28-10 run over the final 11:51 of the game en route to a 75-43 victory. Skidmore shot 52% (14-27) from the floor and 60% (9-15) from beyond the arc in the second half.
The Thoroughbred defense was the key throughout as they forced 25 turnovers and converted it into 35 points.
Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y.) had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists and
Christina Gargiso (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points off the bench. Ottati (Fort Johnson, N.Y.) also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
Katy Briedis led the way for the Bears with 10 points.
Skidmore finished the game shooting 47% (14-30) from three-point range compared to just 24% (5-21) for Potsdam.
The win closes out the fall semester for the Thoroughbreds. They return to action on January 4 against Nichols as part of the Bahamas Goombay Shootout.
